All bagged out

After spending all of Sunday (and the wee hours of Monday morning) lining and adding various features, the bags are done! This is all the galleries are going to get for now because I'm all bagged out and going away for a week's holiday.

So now, without further ado, here they are, and they're all named after various authors because I'm a lit geek.

The first three you see are variations on a large tote with internal and external pockets and magnetic snap closures.

And the rest have Booga style handles, but different shaping (though it doesn't show to scale in the pics), also with internal features, sturdy bottoms, etc: Austen:

Baggins (yeah, Bilbo and Frodo were authors, weren't they? ;) ):

Eliot:

Fforde:

and the slightly more sober Kafka:

*sigh* If I'd only had more time, I would have been able to do the backpacks and other bag designs in my head. Bah. But I think I'm through with bags for a while now...

In which Axe is naughty... EVEN naughtier than usual...

My yarn diet isn't doing very well.

I have been a bad bad bad girl.

I went to the beach and had promised myself that I would steer clear of the yarn store. Even though it was in my path. Like a huge honking elephant. I was going to walk right on past. That was the plan. I was going to walk right on past, not bat an eyelash. I was going to be the picture of fortitude. But then... it rained. And, honestly, what else was there to do? A girl's got to have some shelter, right?

And that was how I got Sucked Into the Void.

Once you get past the front door and end up in front of big bins overflowing with colour and gorgeous textures just begging to be touched, well... it's a slippery slope after that.

I broke down and picked up my Christmas project stash of yarns (that I know I can't get anywhere else -- at least, that's how I justify buying them :P ), which comprises the following: This first group is actually three different kinds of mohair and a funky novelty yarn that will morph into a wrap.

I've also detected of late an alarming lean in my yarn purchases and dyeing towards the purples, so I resolved to try another colour scheme. I decided to branch out a little and picked up these two skeins of mohair blends for another wrap:

Unfortunately, that resolution didn't last very long, however, because I couldn't leave without picking up some of this for a wrap for a friend for her birthday.

*sigh* Wonder if there's some kind of therapy for fibre mania that doesn't involve a visit from an armoured van and men in white coats...

I *heart* Mr Fedex (and Mr UPS)

*happy sigh* You know, back when I was working at The Firm Which Must Not Be Named, I used to dread the arrival of The Fedex Guy. Because all the packages he used to bring to me only meant that I would have to kiss my evening and, more often than not, weekend goodbye working on whatever was inside that package. But now, not only do I welcome the arrival of Mr Fedex, I find myself *hoping* that it won't be long before he darkens my doorstep! Why?? Because he brings me goodies like THIS:

These are the skeins of Manos that will become four bags once I'm through with them. How to combine the colours now... decisions, decisions...

And in the meantime, while I've been whipping up more bags (whipping may be the wrong word... I'm still only knitting up the second one), I've found myself awake at 3:00 am unable to sleep. So I've decided to make my insomnia useful. I learned last night how to make THIS:

It is oh so much more than a curl, my friends. So so much more. And I have plans for this little one and its kind... ohhhhh yes I do! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

In which Axelle rediscovers the slipperiness of Time...

I don't know where all the time has gone -- it's August already! And that means I only have a couple of weeks to knit, felt and line bags! So, I've tried to make a start this weekend. Here is the beginning of a tote bag (which still needs handles, I know. I'm working on those now).

And all those bags means that Elizabeth's little cardigan is being put on hold. (Hopefully she'll still be able to squeeze into it by the time it's done.) But this is as far as I've gotten -- just one more sleeve and then it's making up time!

But all this ASAPKnitting isn't stopping me from fantasizing about other projects, like what I could do with these yarns that turned up in the post this week... *sigh* Dilemmas, dilemmas... :P

(Many thanks to Jen who taught me how to multi-pic post! :D )
